Dr. Colin Nicholls, who teaches astronomy, physics and math at the University of New Mexico's Taos Campus, never tires of Northern New Mexican nighttime skies, and he frequently joins fellow members of El Valle Astronomers, the local amateur astronomers’ club, for “star parties” that bring enthusiasts together for stargazing.

Winter, Nicholls says, is ideal for stargazing.
