Taos High School's Jumpstart Freshman Transition Program runs from 8 a.m. to noon through Aug. 2, offering incoming students a chance to become familiar with their new environment ahead of the first day of school Aug. 12.

With less than two weeks until the beginning of the 2024-25 school year, a new cohort of Taos High School students are scrambling to finish their summer plans, hang out with friends and spend their final days of break basking in the sun.

But as July turns to August, recently graduated eighth graders are experiencing a blend of excitement and apprehension about the upcoming year.
