The 7th Bull of the Woods Trail Race took place at Taos Ski Valley Saturday (Sept. 9) and included half marathon and marathon distances.
Elevation gain on the primarily single-track course reached close to 2,950 feet as marathon (26 miles) trail runners ambled up from the base of Lift 1 to the top of Kachina Peak (12,481 feet) and back down to the start/finish line. After tackling the first monstrous loop, 26-milers continued on the north side trail system, which included another hefty climb: to Frasier Peak, which sits at 12,163 feet above sea level.
