I had to comment because the recent My Turn by Jerry Yeargin, "Tax the rich and downsize the military to curb inflation." It's fraught with numerous misconceptions about how economics work.
The first error is that military spending doesn't have anything to do with current inflation. If that were true, we would have had hyper-inflation for the past 70 or 80 years. Second, Mr. Yeargin concludes his essay by saying "the real cause of inflation ... is the national debt." Again, if that were true then we would have had inflation since the Revolutionary War when the U.S. started incurring debt.
